If you reply to a message from 'wisc.edu' and get an "unknown host" message, try inserting the 'cs' :-) >----------------------------Original message---------------------------- >If 'speedy.wisc.edu' doesn't exist, how doe mail managed to get sent >from there? >----------------------------Original message---------------------------- >This message was not deliverable > >To: astroatc!nicmad!madnix!daehl@speedy.wisc.edu >Reason: SPEEDY.WISC.EDU is an unknown host or domain. > Not too bad a question. The short answer is that you should try speedy.cs.wisc.edu. The long answer involves some restructuring of the domains around the University of Wisconsin, Madison. The Computer Science Department used to think that they were the center of the campus. But other folks have asked to join the network. So now they ( cs ) are merely one domain out of many at wisc.edu. The change has been installed for a year now but some of the system managers evidentally have not gotten around to changing their configuration.
