I have a Sider 10mb hard disk (several years old) whose power supply quit working. I bought a different power supply in the hopes that I could get the disk working again. The supply provides power to two distinct places: the motor drive and a circuit board. I removed the connector to the board, and then could power the drive without any problems. It worked about half the time with both parts connected to the power supply. There seems to be a relay in the Sider, and I wonder if it is supposed to turn off the circuit board while the disk drive is spinning up. (Powering up requires much more current than keeping it going.) Is there anyone out there who has worked with Siders that can tell me whether the relay is supposed to do that? If the problem is with the bad relay, what is the best way to fix it? --Dave "Software Engineer" Tribby
