[comp.sys.apple] A program called three easy pieces.

eddie@CC.MSSTATE.EDU (Eddie Mikell) (08/04/89)

Hello

I have had a request to find a public domain (shareware?) program called
Three Easy Pieces. Does anyone know of this program? Can it be FTP'ed
from somewhere, or can someone send it to me?

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Eddie H. Mikell

BAD NEWS! Three EZ Pieces is a *commercial* program for the Apple /// (that's
Apple THREE (3). It's, for all practical purposes, AppleWorks for the Apple
///. A pretty nice piece of software from what I hear. Sun Remarketing
sells refurbished Apple ///'s, but I don't know about software (given the
rate of recent Apple /// sales, programs for that model are not being marketed
too aggressively ;-).

I seem to recall Three Easy Pieces as the original name for what later
became AppleWorks.

I am sure I will not be the only one to respond...Three Easy Pieces is not and
never has been public domain or shareware...it is the Apple /// (three)
version of AppleWorks, written by Bob Lissner at the same time he did the
original AppleWorks, a time when everyone at Apple thought the future of their
company was in the Apple ///.

I believe that this was a prototype to AppleWorks and was written for
the Apple /// (/// EZ Pieces).

If it's the program that I think it is, it's not PD or SW. ///easy pieces
was the parent program of AppleWorks for the /// written by Bob Lissner.

Anyone else know what it is?

Three Easy Pieces was written for the Apple III computer and marketed by
Apple. As far as I know, it's still a commercial program and hasn't been
turned over to the public domain yet. Since it is an Apple III program, you
can probably get it from Sun Marketing which is a company that supports the
Apple III computer. They're located in the West somewhere. I don't have
their address.

I believe that this was a prototype to AppleWorks and was written for
the Apple /// (/// EZ Pieces).

Actually, according to A2-Central, /// EZ Pieces was a converted program that
originally started out as AppleWorks. Rupert Lissner (Robert?) was convinced
by an Apple employee neighbor that the Apple /// was all they used at the
company, and was the future of Apple computing. So, good ol' Rupert worked
many days and nights converting the program (well, maybe it wasn't THAT hard),
to a bum system that didn't outlast bread on the store shelves. /// EZ Pieces
was released before AppleWorks; but, as you all know, hasn't outshined it by a
long shot! BTW, it is still NOT public domain! Rupert still wants his
royalty payments, however small they may be. Hope this clears things a bit :)
