Not too long ago I posted a message asking for help with my IIc's power supply. It seems that a 512K Z-RAM Ultra II requires more power than my IIc's power supply is capable of providing. The symptoms were 1) a loud whining noise coming from the power supply inside the computer, and 2) after a few hours, a badly mangled video output. Since the time I posted my first article I have taken my IIc completely apart, studied the schematics in the IIc Technical Reference Manual, and talked to people from Chinook and Applied Engineering. I've come to the conclusion that one can use a IIe power supply in a IIc (it won't fit inside the machine, of course) if one knows what one is doing. This decided, I ordered AE's heavy-duty IIc power supply from Preferred Computing today. So, the story ain't over yet.
