[comp.sys.apple] PCT problem

delton@pro-carolina.UUCP (Don Elton) (08/14/89)

I just started playing with my PCT card again after buying the simulation
TRACON. Problem is, I installed the PCT system software 1.3 (and can't seem
to find 1.2 of course) and find that I can't read from the Transdrive 5.25
under MS-DOS though I can use it as a ProDOS drive. This makes me think the
hardware set-up is fine but that perhaps somethings wrong with my
configuration either of MS-DOS or the PCT system software. At boot time the
floppy spins ok (I boot from HD) but once in MS-DOS if I try to access A: all
I get are GENERAL ERROR ON A errors. Can't even format a blank floppy from
MS-DOS though I can from ProDOS. This was working before the upgrade in PCT
system software but don't know if it's a problem with the software update or
my configuration thereof. The other problem I had was with the update I
couldn't figure out how to get the new system files off the small MSDOSVOL
file and into my 10 megabyte MSDOSVOL so I don't know if this is my problem or
not. Anyone have any ideas?

Someone mentioned recently having a problem with the PC Transporter. I
wonder: do yo also have the Transwarp GS? I discovered that after I
installed the TWGS I could not read/write to the PCT 5.25 drive unless I
had the TWGS speed set to normal. This also was after installing the GS
System Disk 5.0; I don't remember if I had reason to use the 5.25 drive
between when I got the TWGS and the new system disk so I don't know
exactly what combination of changes caused the problem.

Yep, it was the TWGS alright. Works fine now with the TWGS set to normal.
Thanks for the reminder. (Should have thought of this myself I suppose but
it's the first TWGS problem I've run into).
