I think that Richard Ewing <rewing@APPLE.COM> stated: >Mac 512K product. Finally, we introduce a machine that mimicks the >Mac Plus in many ways, and goes beyond it on others. It has 1 meg of memory >on board (1 mbit RAMs) and 256K of highly optimized ROMs. Combined I just wonder why the interface was not improved past the mac. Its not that I don't like the current user interface, but would like to see both machines get a better user interface. By improvement, I mean little things that would make the machine easier to use. For example each disk icon should graphically show how much disk space is actually used, and remaining. A hier- archical menu is really not very user friendly, as you need some degree of fine motor skill to even access it. Check out the NeXT hierarchical menu, it is more of a tear off menu. Their are more little items that really need to be revised in my view. But, then again, don't put down something you have no control over. scott hutinger mser001@ecncdc.bitnet

Check out the "Icon Info" option in the Finder, for example. It's especially impressive if you're on an AppleShare network-- there's a pop-up menu for setting access privileges for folders (much nicer than figuring out which one of 512 possible combinations of 9 check boxes you want :-) . >[...] For example each disk icon should >graphically show how much disk space is actually used, and remaining. I'd never thought of that, but I'll run it by the Finderites, and maybe they'll like it. >Their are more little items that really need to be revised in my view. By all means, start a human interface discussion! Not every good idea that comes out of it will get implemented, but I bet some of them will. Don't assume that Apple has already thought of everything and chosen what they thought was best. Your biggest complaint may be something that nobody has thought of, or something that nobody realizes you even *want*. >scott hutinger mser001@ecncdc.bitnet --Dave Lyons, Apple Computer, Inc. | DAL Systems AppleLink--Apple Edition: DAVE.LYONS | P.O.
