I wanted to post a plug for Supra Modems. I bought my Supra 2400 baud modem about 18 months ago for less than $150.00. It's worked great until lighting came in on it a few weeks ago. I called Supra and they said to send it in. I was surprised that a company selling such inexpensive equipment would even have a repair department. They replaced 3 ic's and the power supply. The total charge was $25.00 and I had the modem back nine days after mailing it to them. Supra turned out to be a very nice company to deal with all around. Bob Church CS656@OUACCVMB

Since Bob Church gives Supra a plug, I might as well give Avatex a plug. I have an Avatex 1200 which got a zap from lightning. I called the company and they told me to send the modem in with $25 and they replaced it. I got it back in about two weeks (10 working days). The only thing I don't like about it is that it does not like to be initialized, and some programs want to initialize it. For some programs I have to tell them to go online, and then ATDT number. But we live and learn... Oh and by the way it only ran me $95 for the modem and a $15 cable. Robert BITNET:RXBROWN@UALR ALPE:ROBPHD I.B.M = I've been mugged! Amiga? Just say no!

(A response to Bob Church's comments about Supra's support of the SupraModem) Bob, I agree. I've got a SupraModem and have never had a bit of trouble with it. It was inexpensive, it's fast, and it supports all the applicable Hayes commands. A very nice modem, and I reccommend it to everyone who wants a 2400 baud modem. /\ Jerry Kindall | JerryK@cup.portal.com \/ Death to COBOL | GEnie: A2.JERRY ALink: A2 Jerry The answer that evades our brains, we only think we're wearing chains -- Utopia
