[comp.sys.apple] Ok, //c sys. type clock, OKS SCSI??

tp@cbnewsm.ATT.COM (thomas.a.pierce) (08/20/89)

Ok, from mail, etc. I gather that the 'No-Slot-Clock' won't work with
ProLine s/w. What about a '//c system clock' type clock? I don't want to
dedicate a slot to a clock.

Does anybody have the OKS cache card with the scsi option? Is it standard
scsi or 'apple scsi'? If I plug, say, a 102meg drive into one (or an apple
scsi card) and put it into slot 5 on a 128EX (or a IIe) can I have two 32meg
'drives' in slot 5 and two in slot 2? Can there be a 64 meg HD and a 3.5"
drive plugged in the OKS card (with the 800k dr. in 'slot 2'). Can the OKS
card handle Apple 3.5 in. drives? Thanks for any replies!

 -Tom

The //c system clock is not compatible with the //e, or GS. This clock
attaches to one of the ports on the back of the //c, and then puts the port on
the back of the clock, so it operates transparently. The other type of clock
for the //c is on Applied Engineering's Zram for the //c. It's not
compatible, since it plugs directly into the motherboard. The chips have to
be in a certain spot for all the pins to fit, and they are different on the
different computers.

Tom,
I don't know about ProLine, but when ModemWorks was sold by Living Legends,
either Jerry or Morgan had a patch for the No Slot Clock, however, they had NO
guarantees that it would work. If I can find it, I BINSCII it and post it
here. I'm making the same guarantees that Morgan and Jerry made: NONE!
