[comp.sys.apple] ORCA/C Questions

cc@xroads.UUCP (Dan McGuirk) (08/24/89)

Is it a good idea to buy ORCA products right now, specifically ORCA/C? Or
would it be better to wait until they have upgrades to support System 5.0?
(I realize it would work with 5.0, but I'm talking about things like the
Resource Manager, etc..) Also, will ORCA/C run with only one 3.5, 1.25 megs
of memory?

I am using ORCA/C now, with a 3.5 & 1meg. I aslo have a 5.25, but it isn't
really necessary, just nice. I do have a problem making the ORCA/C work with
the GSOS V. Maybe I'm doing something wrong; I'm still sorta new at that
program.

I don't know what "GSOS V" is, but assuming you mean System Software 5.0
(GS/OS 3.0), Orca/C 1.0 works fine with my copy. Use "Compile to Disk"
instead of "Compile to Memory", though; there is apparently a bug in the
latter, due to be fixed soon in a free upgrade (or so I've heard). I
find it generally more convenient to use a shell script or a makefile
(if you have a "make" utility, such as 360 MicroSystems') for most
compilation.

	That was me.

Yes, I do. Sorry, it was late and I was frustrated.

A heartfelt "Thank you" for the tip.

I don't have a make utility, yet. Still working on getting "C" down.
