[net.movies] "Fist Full of Yen"

Just saw "The Seven Samurai" for the first time this evening. Much
better than "The Magnificent Seven" (the American Western translation),
though I'd like to see the latter again to compare characterizations.
Also a remarkable film for 1954; much less ``Hollywood-ish'' than
what you expect in films of that time (or since ....).

But that's not why I'm writing this.

Before "Samurai" was shown there was played a short film, "Fist Full
of Yen," a humorous spoof of Kung Fu movies. This is a very funny
bit, despite the low budget, and has a surprise at the end that you'd
never guess, also very funny. If you see this featured somewhere it
is worth seeing.

Doesn't have much to do with "Samurai", though.

"Fist Full of Yen" is from a collection of bizarre spoofs called
"Kentucky Fried Movie", a project of Abrahams and the Zucker Bros.
(who got rich and famous in Hollywood with "Airplane") back when
they did the "Kentucky Fried Theater" in Madison and were funny.

Several people have written to me pointing out that "Fist Full of Yen"
is actually embedded in "Kentucky Fried Movie" -- one person said it was
easily the funniest part of that film.
