The self test doesn't seem to check for bad RAM. I thought it did,
but I accidently set the jumpers on my Apple card incorrectly while installing

The self-diagnostics only check the built in memory (banks 0, 1, E0, & E1).
Claris' memory tester checks add-on memory in the expansion slot. It will
also check some of the built-in memory on a ROM 3 machine (where it overlaps
with a ROM 01's expansion). As far as I know, the ROM 3's self-diagnostics
don't test any more than a ROM 01's, but there's a good chance I'm wrong.
