I've usually been able to d/l files from IBM boards correctly with zmodem but some of them trash files that I try to upload with zmodem. The send itself seems to be fine, but after the upload, the file length is about half of what it should be. (I was u/l and d/l GIFs, too...) _________________________________________________________ | | | Eric Merrill tippy!emerrill@newton.physics.purdue.edu | | | | Disclaimer: | | If you think I'm serious, that's your problem! | |_________________________________________________________|

This may be painfully obvious, but you may have overlooked it too. ProDOS blocks are 1/2K each. That is, a 1K file will take 2 ProDOS blocks. If you upload a file that's 26 blocks, say, and the result reads as taking 13K on the receiver's end, then that's perfectly normal and what you'd expect. That MAY account for the "half length" files. The only problems I've had with Zmodem uploads using ProTerm was when I was transfering files via a null modem to my Amiga. I was transferring GIFs, but when I displayed the files on the Amiga the scan lines were out of sync with each other. Sort of like a brick wall, where the bricks in each row are staggered a bit rather than lining up directly with the bricks above and beneath them. Appending a linefeed to each perceived carriage return, maybe? Using Ymodem the transfer went fine. I haven't tried using ProTerm's Zmodem for anything else, so that's about the extent of my experiences. /-----------------------------------------------------------------------------\ | It depends on your definition, but evil is | Steve King (312) 991-8056 | | usually bad. | ...uunet!motcid!king | | | ...ddsw1!palnet!stevek | \-----------------------------------------------------------------------------/
