[comp.sys.apple] Apple II disk drive cable and 80 col card

Hi folks, I just picked up a used Franklin Ace 1000. I have a few questions:

1. no disk drive cable, if I make one how do I construct it?

                                               ||
    ---------------         ---------------------
    ||           ||   or    ||

   and does it fit into the drive like:

        |cable
     [==|                                  [ = socket
  ----------------------------board

2. where do I connect the 1 prong connector from the 80 col card? does it
   go to where it looks like there used to be a wire wrap post near the aux
   video connector? or does it hang loose? (I do have an Apple 2 ref manual
   so I have identified some of these connectors by comparing the board and
   the schematics.

3. if I get the 80 col card working, how do I switch into 80 column mode?

btw, 40 column video does work by connecting to the 80 col card connector and
connecting the aux video connector, but leaving the single connector hanging.

4. where can I get a 2nd drive, a printer card (parallel) and a serial card
   cheap? Also, modem software.

I am looking at this as a hacking system and a platform for all of the old
Apple 2 games I have so cheap is better than fancy.

What type of 80col card it is? If you do get it working, it should be in slot 3
and a simple PR#3 should do the trick. The cable on the disk drive should just
plug right into the top board on in the drive. I'll lok for those pinouts, but
I don't think I have them...
