[comp.sys.apple] Problem with DiskTimer v2.0

JDA@NIHCU.BITNET (Doug Ashbrook) (09/18/89)

This weekend, I finally got around to trying out the "DiskTimer V2.0
for GS with disk 16meg or larger" program that was distributed by the
APPLE2-L list server on September 1st. Well, it unpacked just fine
and I looked at the docs file (actually just a list of improvements).
When I attempted to run the program, however, it would load and get
to the point where it displayed the light blue desktop screen (but no
menu bar) and then displayed the message "INITIALIZATION ERROR -->
0201". I looked up this error in the Toolbox Reference manual and it
says "unable to allocate block". I have a 1.25 meg //gs and am able
to run the older DiskTimer program without any problems. I tried
running the new version from both the Finder and from ProSel
(specifying to purge memory before running). And yes, I was
attempting to run DiskTimer from the disk that I wanted to time.

Does anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Doug,

It would appear that you are doing nothing wrong. A number of us have had
this problem and it's in the version that made it up to Apple2-L. Joel
Sumner at Columbia is trying to track down the author via Genie.

Has ANYONE out there got a copy of this (V2.0) that works?

I also tried it under System Software V4.0 with the same results.

/chris
