I have an Adaptec ACB-4000 SCSI -> ST206 bridge card connected to an NEC 40MB hard disk. This combination has been tested on an Atari ST and works just fine. I have not been able, however, to get it to work either with the mac SE or the Apple //gs with Apple's SCSI card. Note that the drive is unformatted currently, but even the low-level formatter(s) don't work on the gs. The only thing I tried on the mac was an Everex disk manager program that claimed the setup was an "unknown disk type." (flame on) Do I have to go out and buy an Atari to get this combination to function properly? Why does Apple call it SCSI if it doesn't work with SCSI equipment??? (flame off) In the meantime, I've managed to pop one of the chips on my Apple SCSI controller (the drive/bridge wasn't connected at the time) trying to get this setup to work, so I now I need to buy a new SCSI card as well. Any recommendations? This just HAS to work... It's giving me too much positive feedback for it NOT to work (but just enough negative feedback to keep it from working. Sigh). Please reply by mail, my news feeds are finicky. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Nick Sayer | ...{ lll-winken!cheers ucdavis!uop } !quack!mrapple .... or.... cheers!quack!mrapple@apple.com or quack!mrapple@uop.edu Packet radio: N6QQQ @ WB6V | FredMail: NSAYER@MADERA%NORCAL Disclaimer: The BBC would like to appologise for that announcement
