I've downloaded a number of programs, including Kermit and shrconvert. Kermit refuses to EXEC properly; it never gets around to actually creating a binary file. shrconvert just won't run (yes, I've unblued it). It goes into a screen which says "Program can't run." Help!!!! I don't think I'm doing anything terribly wrong, as I've managed to get a few other programs to run correctly. Thanks, Gavin Steyn steyn@eniac.seas.upenn.edu

NOTE! Kermit MUST be EXEC'd under DOS 3.3 (make a ProDOS binary by copying the DOS 3.3 'B' file to a ProDOS disk). If you download the EXEC file to a ProDOS disk, you need a copy program which sets the 8th bit when it copies from ProDOS to DOS 3.3 (Copy 2+ works, at least some of the utilities supplied by Apple don't). Strip any line feed characters. Lines must NOT be padded. The line in APP385.2 before the 3D0G (see below) MUST be entirely blank (no pad character) D4CFA0C8CFD3D4BAA0D4D9D0C5A000C3A0D4CFA0D2C5D4D5D2CEDD0000FD4C76AD 3D0G EXEC APP385.INSTALL Murph Sewall Vaporware? ---> [Gary Larson returns 1/1/90] Prof. of Marketing Sewall@UConnVM.BITNET Business School sewall%uconnvm.bitnet@cunyvm.cuny.edu [INTERNET] U of Connecticut {psuvax1 or mcvax }!UCONNVM.BITNET!SEWALL [UUCP] (203) 486-5246 [FAX] (203) 486-2489 [PHONE] 41 49N 72 15W [ICBM] The opposite of artificial intelligence is genuine stupidity! -+- I don't speak for my employer, though I frequently wish that I could (subject to change without notice; void where prohibited)
