I recently loggen in a ftp site and the files are compressed and I think that they used atob or bota on the files and I was swondering how to get the files I tried to uncompress then both atob and btoa but neither worked and when I did atob or btoa first it wouldn't uncompress them. Thanks Pat

Network Comment: to #636 by ptrepan3@ub.d.umn.edu The .Z indicates that a program called compress was used on the file. If the file is ASCII, THEN maybe btoa or uuencode was used on it. Otherwise, you need one of the LZW compress programs - there is one on apple2-l that works for the ECP16/APW environment. After you get the file uncompressed though, you have a file which contains a series of files concatenated together in a 'tape archive' format. I would suggest checking around to find a program to unarchive the files before you procede very much further - I know of Mac versions, MS-DOS versions, Unix versions, and I believe Amiga versions but I have never heard of anyone porting it to GS/OS yet.
