[comp.sys.apple] TML Pascal II Resource Editor

tribby@hpindwa.HP.COM (David Tribby) (10/05/89)

Has anyone successfully created a resource file with the TML Pascal II
resource editor? I wanted to create a basic resource file that contained
	- Standard menus: @, Files, Edit
	- Alert string for "About..."
	- Tool startup (for tools required for NDAs)

I used TML's Skeleton.r file as an example, taking out as many unneeded
resources as possible. (There doesn't seem to be any way to get rid of
unwanted windows.) My program (Skeleton.p with the window manipulation
code removed) works when I use the modified Skeleton.r, but goes bonkers
when I use a similar resource file that I created from scratch. The program
starts up and puts the blue background, wristwatch cursor, and empty white
menu line on the screen but then seems to be stuck (the cursor moves with
the mouse, but nothing else happens). I stuck some WRITELNs into the program,
and the toolbox call that sends me into never-never land is the "fix menu"
function that returns the height of the menu.

My resource file worked when I only included one menu item (any one of the
three). But whenever I added another, the problem returned.

Could someone out there create a resource file from scratch and let me know
if it works for you?
