Do I need to chock it up > to the cost of using a PCTransporter? > > Laer > I find that the PCT works very well in Slot 5. My config is a CMS 60 Meg hard drive in two partitions in Slot 7 (15 Meg MS-DOS hard drive), 1.5 Meg AE GS-RAM memory., Disk II card in Slot 6, slot 3 & 4 open (but reserved for an accelerator card if I bite the bullet before Apple gets around to it), MDIdeas digitizer in Slot 2, and Generic Parallel card in Slot 1. I have an Apple-brand Muffin fan, and find that there's no problems with heat. Only considerations slots 7 and memory card almost touch as do slot 1 and PCT video. I keep a little piece of insulator between both. Any reservations: Sure. I'm patiently waiting for drivers so the Finder works correctly with the PCT-controlled drives. I generally do not get good results with the /RAMAEPC drive. Some programs, including Kermit 3.85, have had occasional difficulties and crash. I'd like to document this if I could, but thus far, I can only trace it to P8 programs that do their own file access. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Todd A. I installed the AE modification to "Prodos" file in my hard drive and Finder recognizes the MFM drives off the PCT just fine. Did you see that part in your manual? Laer lhaider@pro-sol.cts.com
