I am trying to convert all my old Dos 3.3 programs to ProDos. I am having some problems. I have been able to convert some but the ones that are binary files will need some kind of launcher. I rather not waste disk space by including basic system on every disk. Is there a easy way to change bin files to sys files and still have them work when I launch them using Squirt? Any recomendations would be appreciated. Thanks Tom Kelly

I wouldn't waste all my time converting all my files from DOS 3.3 to Prodos.
Most of it probably won't work anyway. You would have to make quite a few
modifications to some programs and none to others. But if you want to know
how to change filetypes - there is a great program out called FAZ. It will
let you change any/all attributes of a file (that's why it's the File
Attribute Zapper.) Just fool around with the program, read the dox, but I
really couldnt' explain this off the top of my head.
Are you using the convertor from the Prodos users disk? Well, that's NOT
really the best program you can use. I have had nothing but problems with it.
If you can, use Copy II Plus. It does a real nice job with the conversions,
but it will not fix any compatibilty problems.

Network Comment: to #4917 by pnet01!pro-tcc!dougs@crash.cts.com My sole goal is to find the best way to archieve my old Dos 3.3 files and be able to un-arc them one at a time (If I wish). The only way I know that will allow that is using Shrinkit (that requires that each file be in ProDos). So far the best I have found is to use Copy II+ to convert to ProDos and Shrinkit to archieve. I reverse the process to get the files back. UUCP: crash!pro-grouch!tomk ARPA: crash!pro-grouch!tomk@nosc.mil
