[comp.sys.apple] Missing mail

SEWALL@UCONNVM.BITNET (07/21/87)

I still have electronic copies of messages I've received since
7/13 but neither of the two you mentioned sending appear among
them. Since you are on the same side of WISCVM --> CUNYVM that
I am, it's not too surprising that you haven't received what I
haven't received.

If anyone sends me an archive of the "missing mail," I'll forward
a copy to you.

I've discovered that I'm unable to exchange mail with those of you using a
BITNET mailer. I have a dozen letters from various of you that I would love to
answer (have answered), that have been bounced back to me.

Does anyone in the BITNET have a proven path in and out of the ProLine domain?
And if so, are you willing to relay some mail? E-mail replies appreciated.

Hey Joe...
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that can't get from here to there. I was
beginning to get paranoid. Let me know if you get the answer.

/steve

Gee, I get mail from Pro-Line addresses all the time. Morgan Davis
<mdavis@pro-sol>, Don Elton <delton@pro-carolina>, and Todd South
<tsouth@pro-pac> don't seem to have any trouble getting through.

In spite of the domain style address, Pro-Lines are UUCP hosts. I've been
told that user@host.bitnet is recognized by Pro-Line mailers. NOTE that
'bitnet' is NOT a domain, but that numerous mailers are locally modified
to recognize 'bitnet.'

If you want to "roll your own," the most direct paths from your Pro-Line to
a BITNET nodes are in the East: ..!crash!nosc!rutgers!host.bitnet!username
in the Midwest: ..!crash!nosc!uiuc!host.bitnet!username, in the West:
!crash!nosc!ucbvax!host.bitnet!username, and in Europe:
!crash!nosc!mcvax!host.bintet!username
