My Apple II+ power supply died recently and I'd like to try my hand at fixing it. I really don't understand electronics at the theoretical level but do know how to solder, and replace componets. Anyway, I opened up the case and found the fuse was blown. So, I replaced the fuse. When I powered it up, the fuse again immediately blew with a bright flash. There don't seem to be any componets that look overheaded, nor any obvious short circuits in the cable. I suspect that some IC has failed and that the fuse is designed to protect the rest of the system from just that failure. I've looked at the schematic in the Apple II Reference Manual and not only can't understand it but it doesn't seem to be the same circuit. Are there any Neters who have had encountered the same sort of power supply failure and been able to fix it? Thanks, Dennis Bournique Please reply to denb@SUTRO.SFSU.EDU rather than the address in the header.

Just replace it. A power supply only costs $50-$60, and you would avoid
accidentally frying yourself or the motherboard.
