[comp.sys.apple] AppleWorks 3.0 and TimeOut updates

saa33413@UXA.CSO.UIUC.EDU ("Scott A. Alfter") (10/15/89)

Recently I received the new AppleWorks 3.0 in the mail through a special deal
set up between Claris and A2-Central. The issue of A2-Central specified that
the then-current TimeOut applications would not install themselves properly
into AppleWorks 3.0, and that I would have to get upgrades for the TimeOut
applications from Beagle Bros for $10 each.

I tried to install TimeOut--first from SuperFonts, then from UltraMacros. They
would not install, as told.

Question: Are the applications old, or is TimeOut itself old? I suspect
SuperFonts will need an upgrade to handle AW 3.0's new features (real tabs,
right-justify, etc.) UltraMacros might not need an update. However, TimeOut
itself--the program you get with Open-Apple-Escape--will need to be upgraded.

Also, I saw a note that looked like it came on Usenet from the Pro-Beagle BBS.
Is Beagle Bros connected to Usenet?  I'd be interested to know if this is true;
it would save time when I need to contact them about anything. Can you get
into Pro-Beagle from Usenet? If you can, how?

Thank you for your attention.

Yours truly,
Scott Alfter

All TimeOut applications need to be updated for AW3.0. UltraMacros
especially (btw, you get 21 new commands). All the updates come with the
new TimeOut host as well.

Some of the folks at Beagle Bros do read (and write to) this Usenet. I try to
be a regular here, although sometimes I'll miss a few days.

I KNOW it's confusing, BUT Usenet is NOT a net :-)

Yes pro-beagle (and all of the Pro-Lines I know about) are connected to UUCP
(since 'uiuc' is a UUCP backbone, you shouldn't have any trouble getting
a path to pro-beagle). You also can use the domain address of:
user@pro-beagle.cts.com Getting someone at pro-beagle to REPLY to your email
is another matter (they can if they want to, but they may not).

Since when? We've answered mail coming to pro-beagle for as long as the
system has been up. Sometimes mail is addressed to one of our programmers who
is not familiar with sending mail to other sites, so the mail may be delayed a
bit, but if we receive it, we answer it.
