MEDIAGENIC CONCENTRATES ON ENTERTAINMENT SOFTWARE
DIVESTS TWO PRESENTATION TOOLS PRODUCT LINES
MENLO PARK, CA (Oct. 19, 1989) -- In a move to solidify its leadership
position in the entertainment software industry, MEDIAGENIC announced plans
to divest its TENpointO and Activision Presentation Tools product lines,
and focus more resources on its video games and computer entertainment
publishing operations.
According to MEDIAGENIC chairman and CEO, Bruce L. Davis, this change in
business strategy will allow the Company to concentrate on enhancing its
strong market positions in video games and computer entertainment.
"During the past two years, MEDIAGENIC has made enormous progress in
building an effective entertainment strategy, and now boasts an impressive
portfolio of entertainment products, including Ghostbusters II, the
Manhole, Cosmic Osmo, Shanghai, BattleTech, Stealth ATF, Predator, and The
Three Stooges," Davis said. "We are in a good position to take advantage
of the changes that are occurring in the floppy-disk, cartridge and
CD-based entertainment industry. This restructuring will allow us to focus
more resources on our strengths and capitalize on our position as one of
the industry's largest entertainment publishers."
According to Davis, the principal products involved in the divestiture
include Focal Point II from TENpoint0; Reports, Business Class, Paintworks
Plus/Gold, and Draw Plus, all from Activision Presentation Tools. These
products will continue to be sold and the company will continue to offer
quality support to its distribution channels, registered and new owners.
However, there will be no further upgrades to these products and all new
development will be discontinued. The Company will seek a buyer for the
divested product lines.
Davis said that ZSoft Corporation,a subsidiary of MEDIAGENIC, will not be
affected by the restructuring. "ZSoft continues to be a highly competent,
profitable developer of graphic utilities for MS-DOS."
MEDIAGENIC is a diversified, international publisher of floppy-disk,
cartridge and CD-based entertainment software.
