Help! I'd like to know the _simplest_ way to print from classic AppleWorks on a 'gs' thru LocalTalk to a LaserWriter IINT. I have read the article in the Aug '89 _AppleWorks FORUM_ but that setup doesn't seem to work for me ... I keep getting an error message to the effect that "AppleTalk has to be installed" whenever I try to run Chooser.II. Yet exactly the same files on the same disk work fine if I launch Chooser from ProSEL.16. Any Help out there?? Thanks in advance for the e-mail! >>>Dave<<< >>> <<>> <<< >>> Dave Lewis <<>> proLine: dlewis@pro-TCC <<< >>> Columbus, Ohio <<>> CIS: 75410,2772 <<< >>> <<>> <<<

I'm running a GS with AppleWorks 2.1 printing over ppleTalk to a LaserWriter IINT. I'm running ProDOS 8 version 1.8 (but previously ran 1.7). This is what I did: 1. Set the control panel to slot 7 on AppleTalk and set slot 1 to "your card". 2. Plugged the LocalTalk cable into the printer port. 3. Copied the file "ATINIT" from System Disk 3.2 and put it on the root directory of my ProDOS 8 boot disk. 4. Copied the Chooser II files to a subdirectory my ProDOS 8 boot disk. 5. Boot up (there is a slightly longer delay than usual for the ATINIT file to be loaded - I guess ProDOS 8 does it automatically). 6. Run Chooser.II and select LaserWriter then select one of the LaserWriter names that show up (we have two LaserWriters on the network). It then reports back "downloading ImageWriter emulator". 7. Run AppleWorks and set a new printer of type imagewriter, but named "LaserWriter" and set on slot 7. 8. Print as usual. Les_Ferch@mtsg.ubc.ca
