I've heard alot about printing postscript files to disk using the Apple-F command in the LaserWriter driver. But, only second hand. I'm a little frustrated, because nobody has really explained exactly what needs to be done in order to install the LaserWriter driver and invoke the Apple-F command. I believe it was Jason Perez who said that all you have to do is copy the "newest" LaserWriter driver to your */system/drivers directory. Do you mean use the System 5.0 LaserWriter driver? Do you mean copy it to the */System/drivers subdirectory? With or without Appletalk installed? I think the biggest problem I'm running up against is that I have no real documentation on System 5.0 (except for the Sept '89 technotes). And I can't find out if the Laserwriter can be installed as a direct-access printer. I'm beginning to believe that the answer is no. (atleast with System 5.0) Because every time I try to install the LaserWriter driver in the */system/drivers subdirectory, nothing happens. The control panel cdev does not even recognize it. When I open the "direct-access" cdev, it only shows my ImageWriter drivers. And I can't get access to AppleTalk because all my slots are in use. If someone could please take the time to more fully explain how to install the LaserWriter driver and print postscript to disk, I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

With or without Appletalk installed? > Do the following- o copy the LaserWriter driver from the System Tools disk to your */system/drivers directory. o rename the driver at anything but LaserWriter (e.g. Postscript) o you can now choose the driver from the Control Panel NDA/Direct Connect CDev o when printing, hold down OA-F when you press okay, this will create Postscript files in your */system/drivers directory. Hope this helps. Dave
