Bill Bridson sent this to the net a week or two ago: Dave, Here is something off our local Apple Users BB that might interest your TML contact: ____________________________________________________________________________ Hi, For those who need to know. TML Basic has the power to corrupt(badly) directories, if you run it from system disk V5. I lost a subdirectory (tml.basic) today, and worse than that, none of my utility programs will clean it out. CopyII+ finds strange characters in its file list. Cat Doctor won't read/delete it, and even the Finder(desktop) gives me error msgs when I try to get rid of it. If I have to, I'll be reformatting and restoring the hard drive, but for anybody else who dabbles in TML.basic, don't even think of trying to do anything under the new OS. I am using version 1.10 of TML, and I believe that is the latest one. I'd call TML and yell a little, but I don't think it would do any good. Tml must have been using some non-authorized calls to prodos for this to happen. ____________________________________________________________________________ Here is TML's response (Vince Cooper): ------------------------------------------ Bill, please relay this to your friend - Only you have the power to corrupt the directory. TML Basic does fine under system 5.0, although it does not provide you as a programmer direct access to its routines. I use TML Basic on a daily basis with some very IO intensive programs and have never experienced a problem. Also, it DOES do some good to call TML and fill us in on the problem. Providing the offending code fragment to our tech support people helps as well since frequently we find its the code, and not the compiler causing the problem. Next time, why not take a few minutes and call, or just jot down a quick note and send me the code instead of condeming the product publicly. Thanks!
