[comp.sys.apple] miscellaneous questions

toddpw@tybalt.caltech.edu (Todd P. Whitesel) (10/21/89)

1. I have system 5.0.1. What is the benefit of system 5.0.2 compared to 5.0.1
and how can I get it? (do i have to trade in my 5.0.1 system.disk or what?) I
can get to a dealer.

2. Does anyone know the format for BINSCII? I am thinking of writing a better
binscii with text menus and operation similar to Apple File Exchange. Is the
binscii format documented by the author anywhere?

3. How much for a ROM 03 motherboard only? I have everything else already for
a ROM 01 machine.

4. When will we get an HFS FST? (join the screaming masses here)

5. Has anyone heard about the 32 bit successor to the 65816, i.e. what will it
like?

any and all answers would be appreciated.

5.0.1 was an *internal Apple release only*. Apparently it has accidentally
been distributed through at least one channel, but if you run across it, stay
away from it. It should not be used. Use 5.0.2 instead.

The author IS 'documented' :-) why don't you ask HIM?

You say that you have system 5.0.1.. Hmmmmmmm, since that was an INTERNAL only
version that was never released from the Apple confines, I wonder what you are
trying to say.. I also wonder how you would upgrade something that really
never existed..

By the way, Apple does suggest that their INTERNAL only version 5.0.1 NOT be
used..
