(Until such time as we get a REAL followup command on this here
newsreader at GMU, I'm going to have to do without quotes... horribly
sorry. They're supposed to install a new reader =tomorrow=, so we'll
see what happens... :-)
To the person who was asking about a faster GIF converter for the
Apple IIgs... YES, it's being worked on, and I'm doing the work. The
program, still at v0.5a (ack) is currently titled "GIFStripper GS" (I
know, can't run around with "GS" in the name, but that's another
matter; yes, this program IS a "sequel" to GIFStripper that's
currently out). My plans are to support GIF conversion into 320x200
16, 256, and/or 3200 color modes, or 640x200 modes with some unknown
(as-yet-undetermined) color restrictions. SPEED is a major purpose of
the program -- I'm converting and optimizing the decompression
algorithm from "C" into '816 assembly by hand; it should go reasonably
fast when it's done. (And if it doesn't, I'll just do it again!) At
this time, I plan to support only GIF's, $C0/$C1's, and maybe Mac
images, but to do 'em all as completely and efficiently as possible.
Any ideas and wishes are welcome; send me mail to an address below.
To the person who was trying to figure out how to use INSTDSP -- the
most recent issue of A2-Central (November, I guess; I just received it
yesterday) contains information on how to use that call, along with
assembly source (8-bit) to disassemble some code to the screen. If
you subscribe to A2-Central, check it out; I'll post the Z-page
locations it uses to the list next time I'm home and online.
That's all for now...
