](This doesn't mean ther wasn't one that got lost.) When I installed
]System disk 5.0 what I call a bug showed up in several of my
]applications. (WordPerfect, TML Pascal, possibly some paint programs --
]I rarely use them so I'm not as sure about them.) Under all previous
]system disks when you attempted to save over an existing file a dialogue
]box would come up asking if that's what you wanted to do. Under 5.0
]that dialogue box does not come up; you also, however, can't complete
]the save -- if you hit CR or select the button to complete the save
]absolutely nothing happens. What changed? Is it a bug in 5.0 that got
]fixed in 5.0.2 or is it a real change in the interface that requires the
]application to do something different?

I asked about this problem on the net, too. It happens to me when using
DeluxePaint II, patched with Jason Harper's fix to make it work under 5.0. I
find it occurs ONLY after I run a ProDOS 8 program of some kind. My hard
drive boots into the Orca Shell 1.1. If I run ShrinkIt or some other kind of
P8 program, quit back to the shell and run DPaint, the aforementioned symptoms
occur. When I try to save a file over an existing file, the hard drive will
be accessed briefly but then stop, leaving me in the Save File dialog. No
error box comes up. Incidentally, the InnerDrive driver flashes a read and
write blip on the current display screen during access. If I run DPaint
first, without running a P8 program, the save works fine, with nice "This File
Exists" type safety checks popping up.
