Yes, we people in Argentina also suffer from the same kind of problem that stephan from Belgium and Lachs from Israel had. We were (and the situation continues) badly treated, really. I bought my little //c of 84' with a used monochrome CMB monitor, a //c external driver and a mouse. Guess what, It costed me $2500 in Jan 85! I then could't find a single place to get upgrade that fix many bugs in the original //c. I also had a modem, and it was impossible to use it without upgrading to bugless //c. I tried several and all Apple dealers in Buenos Aires, but non of them offer such a upgrade to the customers. One of them even asked me for $80 bucks so they would *modify* and install a *copy of //c 32k ROM* for me. I refused, of course. A friend of mine who owned a //gs, had a serious problem with his computer. The Apple dealer asked him $1200, and 3 to 6 months to fix it. No way, my friend said. So he made a phone call to CDA of U.S and asked for repaire his computer. The guys at CDA told him that if he send in his motherboard and 129 dollars, they would send him a brand new motherboard! The new board arrived in 2 or 3 weeks! (yes, to Argentina via DHL with little extra cost). Imagin $1200 + 3-6 months vs. $130 + 2-3 weeks, what a difference!!! Other things like stealing RAM chips from your memory expansion board, change your new ROM (01) to old one (they sell COPY of gs ROM 01 for $55 each, my friend bought one because there was no other place to get one.) when you take your computer to them for fixing problems, are not uncommon... Mmm.. It seems that Apple has no plan to make their oversea customers happy. (I am still a pro-Apple even after all those kind of experience, shouldn't Apple appreciate me? I still love my little //c that did SO much things for me, though, I am looking for a NeXT (No, not Macs)) P.S: all the monetary units are in U.S. dollar currency. (And please consider Argentine economy situation at that moment... $50 or $100 was the minimum monthly salary!!) -- _____________________________________________________________________________ | "When is a revolution legal?
