I'm hoping to get in touch with someone else still running the 'antique' Macintosh XL (Lisa 2/10). This machine is of course old and slow, but it's still running, and we'll try to keep it alive for some time. The problem is upgrading to new versions of System software. The question is quite simple: Is it possible to install and run a newer version of 'System' than 3.2 on the internal harddisk of the Macintosh XL? I've not been able to do this. If it is possible, how is it done? As far as I understand, using for example 'Installer 2.4' and an appropriate 'installer-script' (does such a script exist?) will produce a system disk larger than 400kbytes (must be double sided), and hence a system that cannot be run from the internal 400kbytes floppydrive? By the way, is there a more recent version of the 'MacWorks XL' software than the version dated April -85? If anyone can help, please reply directly to me, as I'm not a member of the distribution list. Best regards, H. Kvernelv ARPA: KVERNELV%VAX.RUNIT.UNIT.UNINETT@TOR.NTA.NO EARN/BITNET: KVERNELV@NORUNIT
