[comp.sys.apple] vt-100 emulation on IIGS

Is there any program out there that currently can interpret ANSI graphics as
well as ANSI codes and turn them into GS SHR graphics? I have Snowterm 1.07
and that is a great program for interpreting ANSI codes, but no graphics.

]-[ave you ever heard of Applied Engineering's ReadyLink? (Used to be
EasyLink, but someone already had that name.) I grilled one of AE's
employees demonstrating it at AppleFest SF in September. He said that it
supports full VT-100 emulation, including ANSI graphics, using MouseText
on the text screen. That was one of the few features I never got him to
demonstrate, though, so I don't know how well it works. Since it only
uses the text screen, and not SHR graphics, I would think that it would
have trouble with certain things, like underlined text. If you wish to
take a risk on ReadyLink and buy it, it's available for $99 from

  Applied Engineering
  P.O. Box 5100, Carrollton, TX 75011 214-241-6060

or for $69 from

  Quality Computers
  15102 Charlevoix, Grosse Pointe, MI 48230 1-800-443-6697

I never bought it, myself, even at the AppleFest reduced price, mainly
because both the text and review editors are disk based instead of
memory based (giving them sizes limited only by free disk space) and
it can't access extra memory of ANY kind greater than 128K. I did
really like its ability to edit text in one window while receiving
incoming data in another, though, so if they ever upgrade it to support
the extra memory in my GS like ProTERM does, I'll buy it.
