[comp.sys.apple] No virus

Tabakal@UB.CC.UMICH.EDU (11/20/89)

Well, as the naysayers at DTS have pointed out, I probably do not
have a virus. Probably. I wasn't trying to start a scare, but
some pretty strange stuff was (and is) going on.

As a matter of principle, however, you shouldn't just assume
I'm wrong. Reasons why? Because I download everything first to
make sure it works before I permit it out. So, it's not
unreasonable to assume that I might get hit among the first.

I ran Mr. Fixit on my drive and have taken care of the worst
problems though it's still in bad shape. My directory structure
had the wrong number of files, files attached to the wrong blocks,
and other assorted problems. Well, at least now I can get as far
as making a new backup. Previously, I couldn't rename, delete,
or create files in GS/OS, but could create in ProDOS 8.

I checked my memory and don't have errors that would cause the
$56 ProDOS 8 error.

Still taking advice. I'm ordering the latest version of ProSel,
will upgrade to 5.0.2 and have removed two startups (Fastext, and
something called AW -- I don't remember what it is). I don't
think any of my DA's are causing trouble, but I did install the
Earth trash icon last week.

Question: Hypothetically, if I have a disk with an ICONS file on
it (with the old Trash Can), and I've changed my Trash Can, will
this cause trouble?
