[comp.sys.apple] 6 volts

the power supply provides +,- 5V and +12V. I have a closed //, so I don't know
if the 12V is provided to the slots (STD slots do if that is relevant). What
you can do is take two resistors of equal value (100 - 1K depending on the
current needed by the 65816 - check the spec sheet), connect one between Vdd
(pin 8) and 12V and the other between pin8 and ground. Break the trace that is
supplying the chip with power ( bypass the chip actually, another chip might
have its power cut also). The current neede is 4mA/Mhz so for 10MHz 40mA are
rzequired, the resistors shoould be around 150 ohms.

Note that this will increase the heat generated by the chip by more than
fourfold, so be sure you use an industrial strength fan, particularly sinced
'pushed' chips are more susceptible to heat variations.

I am not sufficiently brave to attempt this myself even if I have a GS and
TWGS, thus this is speculation. I take no responsibility for voided waranties,
motherboards or damages resulting from the information provided.
