This posting contains mild spoilers of the film 2010. Read at your own risk! Actually, it just points out appearances of a well-known sf author. This concerns the appearance of Arthur C. Clarke in the film. With the first, I would like confirmation. When Dr. Heywood and Victor Millson are seated before the White House discussing how they should convince the President to allow Americans to go with the Russians, there is a lone man seated on another bench at the left of the film. I didn't notice him at first, but I believe he is Clarke. Anyone else see him? The second sighting occurred with the transformed Dave Bowman visiting his mother. The nurse at the desk has a copy of Time showing the American and Soviet leaders. The American President is portrayed by Clarke. I didn't recognize the face of the Soviet leader. Any suggestions? Overall, I really enjoyed this film. One bone I have to pick that was not present in 2001 is the fact that the ships both made exhaust sounds in space. Kubrick didn't even have music playing during some of the space scenes in 2001 which I thought enhanced those sequences. In case there are any in doubt, go see it!!!
