From ->GREG WESTON ("Bit Bucket" BBS E. Hartford, CT) (203) 569-8739 Date ->07/09/87 04:51:47 PM Sub ->Some info desired... I'm trying to work out some details on a program I wrote quite a while back which, as a minor function, uses as many capabilities of whatever Apple II it's running on that I know how to access. Planning on modifying it for the GS, I find myself needing some information; specifically, the values found at the following addresses: PEEK (49048) <$BF98> (64435) <$FBB3> (64286) <$FB1E> (64448) <$FBC0> and how much RAM any respondant has installed. I'd like a few people to answer (as many as possible) to check out the validity...also, I'd like reports from actual IIgs owners and those of upgraded //es. Greg (reply via SEWALL@UCONNVM.bitnet)

I posting this in the hopes one of you experts out there can be of assistance. I own a 1987 version of the 2c. I believe it to be the most current of its day. What I wnat to know is if it is possible to connect a laser printer (apple, or another) to it. I'm not concerned about cabling, that I can make or buy. What I want to know is if it is possible. Any help would be appreciated. Jim Osenberg Rosemount Inc. -- "Save your edits every 5 minutes or 5 lines, whichever comes first."

In fact a plain vanilla H-P LaserJet comes with an RS-232-C connector which can be attached to an ordinary serial port. Your real problem will be in finding software to fully exploit the printer. Given Apple's penchant for embedded applications as opposed to a toolkit approach, many commercial software products are not capable of doing anything other than perhaps dumping ordinary-looking text printouts to such a printer, which is a shame when you consider that they are generally capable of 300dpi full raster graphics.

In-Reply-To: message from gwyn@smoke.BRL.MIL Publish It! 2 is one program which will print to a laser printer (it has to be PostScript compatible, though) from any Apple II machine. I'm not aware of any others. But it does work with the IIc. _____ ||___|| Jerry Kindall | Internet: jerryk@pro-tcc.cts.com | o | 2612 Queensway Drive | UUCP: nosc!crash!pro-tcc!jerryk |__O__| Grove City, OH 43123-3347 | GEnie: A2.JERRY ALine: A2 Jerry
