HELP!! I need a new printer for my IIGS. I have an old EPSON RX-80 dot matrix that has seen its better days... (it smokes if you leave it on too long!) (It works w/my GS cuz I have a Grappler C/Mac/GS.) I want to print in COLOR, but I don't think I want to waste my money on the Imagewriter II that everyone and their mother buys. The Imagewriter II works OK, but the quality is pretty poor--especially for what it costs. I am really impressed by the HP-Paintjet printer, and it appears to be hardware-compatible. HOWEVER, it would be useless unless I can find someone who has written software drivers for it. Does anyone know where I can get software to control this printer & whether a driver for it could be installed on various GS software packages (Appleworks GS, etc.). Alternatively, does anyone know of other COLOR printers that might be better than an Imagewriter II? Anyone own the Epson EX-8000 or whatever it is? Again, software drivers would have to be available... Finally, I heard that APPLE is going to be coming out with 3 new printers in the first quarter of next year. Supposedly, two inkjet-technology printers and a laser printer. Can anyone confirm this, or provide more information? If this is true, maybe I should buy a pair of dark sunglasses and keep using my old Epson RX-80 for a few more months (...so I don't see the smoke coming out of it...(it still prints ok!))
