Well, GBBS and ProLine are the two dominant apple bbs software systems these days, but both are over priced.. I have used MANY of the bbs software which is available for the apple // line, starting WAY back with the dos version of GBBS, then tele-cat, apple-net, micr*link, GBBS Pro, and finally decided to write my own. I have written 2 DOS bbs systems which are now safely archived somewhere in my apartment, but I finally broke down and went the ProDOS way and wrote a system that I wanted. It has aspects of all of the systems I mentioned above, and some new ones. I would recomend that you buy the modemworks package, and write your own. It's a great way to make sure that you have everything you want. If you want networking ability, you probably should just buy proline... It'd be a lot easier than trying to program it. I have written some routines for my bbs which can network with pro-line sites, and uses the mdss format, but it's not complete yet, and its a pain. I'm not going to buy proline becuase, if you ask me, they are all too similar. Every pro-line looks like every other proline, or so I have observed. Dont get me wrong, its a powerful bbs system, but I find it boring. I like the local bbs's, where you know your bbs is good if you have lots of long distance callers and the like. Oh well, nuff said.. alank
