I called Brier Technology of San Jose and Insite Technology of San Jose last week before I returned to school... I got the information that I requested from Brier this weekend. Quoted from the letter w/out any permission: "Brier plans to market its drives to OEM customers and full service distributors. We do not plan to sell our products directly to dealers or end users. BR 3020 dealer availability is expected late this fall from Brier Technology's customers. Q-Cor (formerly Quadram) located in Norcross, GA, will be among the first suppliers to offer the FLEXTRA as a retail disk drive subsystem". There was no date on the letter and it was basically a form letter, and I am GUESSING that the "late this fall" actually means 'last fall', i.e. fall of 1989 which is over.. I am not positive though. Next, something which may make some of you people think I'm crazy. Another paragraph of the letter says that BR 3020 [the 21.4 megabyte formatted capacity drive] OEM pricing is established at $475 each for quantities of 100... [then it says that reduced volume pricing is available for contracts to 10000 units per year] If anyone else is "crazy" enough to be even interested in being one of a hundred people to get this drive at a low price, mail me.. It seems there could be a lot of people that mail me, plus they could have friends that might want to get one of these. It does not seem to be an EASY task but it seems like a POSSIBLE task to get 100 people to get these drives very cheap. Finally, if people WANT MORE TECHNICAL info about this drive and/or my general information about the other maker of the drive and the drive itself, just mail me and I'll send it to you. -- unknown@ucscb.ucsc.edu APPLE II FOREVER APL24VR GS tips?
