I heard Computist recently published info on how to unprotect the game Pirates! by microprose. I am a legal owner of Pirates!, I payed my $40 at Sears for the game, and I'm not about to go out and pay another $10 for a backup. I hear once the game is unprotected its written in Basic. I would feel much better if the money amount and the number of cannons didn't roll after a certain level. In addition it would be much easier for me to use from a 3.5 inch disk. So, if anyone has this info, please email it to me. Posting it is likely to cause another outbreak of flame wars.\

To reiterate a previous post, I bought Pirates, and want to unprotect it and fix a few bugs in the program. I know this was just covered in like the last issue of Computist, but the only reply I've gotten so far indicated how to unprotect the 128K version if a person has a IIgs handy. I don't happen to have a IIgs handy. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to unprotect pirates for the 128K iie/c version without having to own a IIgs to do it?
