I have a question about the Apple II version of the Aztec C65 "C" compiler by Manx Software Systems. (Release 1.05 - SHELL version 2.4). I bought a copy of this used from a person "parting out" (and parting away with) their IIe. I have an Apple IIc Plus with an external 5 1/4 floppy in "slot 6". When I boot DOS and then attempt to run the SHELL, the system locks up after displaying the SHELL copyright message - I never get the "-?" prompt. A look at the docs under the "Shell" writeup section says (section 2.2 - "Booting" in my manual) that "the SHELL resides in the ram-card and allows more space for application programs". I suspect this is the problem since I do not have an auxiliary ram-card in "slot 4" where the IIc Plus can accept one. Now for the real question ... If I get the ram-card will it work? I know the IIc Plus differs from previous systems in that the mouse is moved from "slot 4" to "slot 7" and the ram-expansion resides where the mouse "was". Is this software smart enough to figure out where the ram-expansion is or is it "assumed" to be somewhere. GR.SLK@ISUMVS.IASTATE.EDU
