OK, I've spent the last couple of years reading about people's experience of one form or another of weirdness with their GS. For some reason (I WON"T complain!) I haven't expereinced any of this. My battery died, and I replaced it with the Nite Owl battery. Easy. All of a sudden, I've got weirdness coming out of my ears. I recently purchased AWGS. As soon as I installed it, things started getting strange. Once, right out of the blue, I get a crash: Sorry, a system error has occurred: ID 0 press return to reboot. I pressed return, and - IT CRASHED! GS/OS err: addr $00A516, Code 2, LC 0. press return to reboot. I did, it did. This happen once. Assuming that the version of 5.0.2 on the AWGS disk might be corrupt, I went in search of a good copy. I got one off of Phil and Dave's Excellent CD. Now, I have repeatable trouble with AWGS. I frequently run Z-Link. Occasionally, I run AWGS to enter transactions on by bank account spreadsheet. Everything loads fine. I can enter text fields just fine. When I try to enter a value (a certain withdrawal), it freezes. I can type the value, but when I hit Enter or Return or up or down arrow, it just locks right up. I have to reboot. Second try proves to be successful. It's not even crashing. The mouse is alive... any ideas? -- Dave Whitney dcw@sun-bear.lcs.mit.edu ...!mit-eddie!sun-bear!dcw dcw@athena.mit.edu My employer pays me well. This, however, does not mean he agrees with me. I wrote Z-Link & BinSCII. Send me bug reports. I use a //GS. Send me Tech Info.
