[comp.sys.apple] Photonix GS

MACAUSLANDR@vax1.cosv.tuns.ca (Robert MacAusland) (12/23/89)

I just downloaded Photonix from Apple2-L. A very impressive program.
However it seizes up after you perform one disk function and the
Credit screen is completely trashed (the music still plays though)....
Has anbody encountered problems with the original posting of Photonix?
I seem to remeber sometime back someone mentioning that there was a
reposting of some of the parts, but when I check the latest Apple2-L
catalog there was only one version there (the one I downloaded) Can
anyone shed some light on this?

How much memory does your GS have? My 768K machine has the same problems
as you describe when running Photonix, but a friend with 1Mb has no
problems. I wonder if that's the source of the problem...

I always assumed Photonix required at least 1.25 meg, since it DOES
read the whole disk image into memory. I guess it would work in 1 meg,
but I've never tried. My particular copy, when run on a 768K machine,
gives a "Not enough memory to run photonix error". Either there are
a couple versions out, or some of them were damaged, or this just goes
to prove the utility of proven, built-in, universal TOOLS.

     LONG LIVE TOOLS!
