Weren't there some rumors about Bits-and-Pieces selling their design for the Rocketchip to Applied Engineering after losing their court battle? It would be really great if AE would aquire the rights to both Zip technologies and Bits and Pieces accellerators thus ending any legal problems. Then, they could remarket the Rocket-Chip. Considering AE's exceptional support of the entire // line ( hey, they're still putting out stuff for the //+) this would be an ideal situation. Also, I spoke with a technician at AE today about adding Kermit to READYLINK. He didn't seem adverse to the idea but said that there just wasn't enough space left to add another protocol. Considering that READYLINK has 132 column VT100 emulation it would make a great program for doing mainframe work. Provided of course that you had Kermit. He talked as though AE might be receptive to the idea. A polite letter writing campaign might just do the trick. I'm sure it would be worth doing without one of the several versions of XMODEM or YMODEM or perhaps they could ship two versions. X/Y modems on the front of the disk and Kermit on the back.
