[comp.sys.apple] Phil and Dave's Excellent CD

dcw@sun-bear.lcs.mit.edu (David C. Whitney) (01/19/90)

The CD is a collection of developer needs all put into one source. It
is heavily mac-oriented, although a few Apple // features are present
on the disk. For example, all the GS system disks are there, along
with a few other Apple // and GS disks (APW sample code, APW header
files, etc).

The rest of the CD has Inside Mac, all the Mac tech notes, and
navigation software (Hypercard). It also has every mac system disk
going back to version 0.2 (I think)

To get back to the wish list mentioned earlier...I'd like to see this
sort of thing with the emphasis on the //. The technotes online with
the search abilities of hypercard are *extremely* useful. The GS
manuals on disk would be a godsend as well.

My employer pays me well. This, however, does not mean he agrees with me.
I wrote Z-Link & BinSCII. Send me bug reports. I use a //GS. Send me Tech Info.

On this note, would you use the Apple II Technical Notes in a Macintosh
stack? Or would it need to be in HyperStudio? I ask since it is obvious
that there is not a HyperCard for the Apple II from Apple and many Apple
II users and developers do NOT have Macs.

If the so called "rumors" are true about an Apple II version being released
by Apple, then why not quietly get the stacks ready to release after
the product announcement in whatever format would be required..

If the rumors are false, then Hyper Studio appears the only other way to
go in that type of format.

You are correct in your assumption that many Apple II developers do
not have Macs (or CD drives, despite the promotion) at hand to be
able to use Mac Stacks..
