[comp.sys.apple] Difference between Top Draw and others

Top Draw (Beagle Draw) is a different kind of program from the usual Paint type
programs such as Paintworks or Deluxepaint. In Topdraw (I keep saying this
because it's easier to type) everything done is store by the methods used to
draw it. Instead of storing the screen pixels when a ciracle is drawn, the
program keeps track of the circle radius, line with, and other attributes.
What's nice about this is that even at 500% enlargement a shape will be well
defined with no jaggies (like Fat Bits in a paint program). Another feature is
all things drawn are treated as objects. If you think of the objects as cards
on a table it gives a better idea. You can then shuffle up and down what layer
the objects should be on so certain objects can be on top while others
underneath will only show through when not covered. This allows great
flexibility in manipulating drawings since anything drawn can be reshaped,
resized, enlarged, shrunk, and otherwize mutilated without a loss in clarity.
Another interesting point of the program is that it supports drawings 8
pages x 8 pages. Without the mathematical shape definitions, zooming in to any
amount of detail on a drawing this large would render large blobs of color with
no shape to them. Plus zoomed all the way out, you could draw a circle 4 pages
high with no more effort than drawing one 4 inches high.
