Sorry, Mike, but you would gain very little from your efforts to get Small C up and running on ProDOS 8 on your own. It's already been done successfully. The ProDOS 8 based ORCA/M package has an optional disk ($20-$40) that is already debugged to run Small C on the Apple. It also comes with source and can compile itself. I got the entire package (ORCA/M, Shell sources and Small C) for under $100, so unless you are extrememly pressed for money, I would recommend to save your effort and buy the working version. Personally, without structures, Small C is worthless to me for any serious program development. And you can forget portability (from other machines to the Apple), because you need much more than "character" and "int" variables to compile a complicated program.
