[comp.sys.apple] Micro-Sci

paulb@ncc1701.TTI.COM (Paul Blumstein) (02/06/90)

I have a Micro-Sci A2 disk drive on my Apple //e. The write-protect switch
is getting flaky. I can remove it & bring it to electronic parts places to
match it up, but the easiest thing would be to order on from micro-sci.
I called the number in the manual, which was in Santa Ana, CA. Another
company answered & said that Micro-Sci has been out of business for over 5
years.

Is this true, or have they moved somewhere else? Any info would be
appreciated.

TIA.

I found out the answer to my own question first. American Micro Research
(Chino, CA) bought out Micro-Sci. I called. They don't repair or have
parts for the A2 anymore. I talked to a technician. He told me that the
switch is the same one used in the Apple Disk 2. Looks like my best bet
is to pull it & see if it easy to match up. If not, I'll try some Apple
dealers.
