With all the talk about pd and shareware telecomm programs and people praising Kermit v3.85... I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem: When connected to the University's VAXen, and running terminal inten- sive programs (like this NEWS program or PHONE or some such...), Kermit tends to lock up when I'm typing and the programs sending a lot of ESC codes back (say, to clear the screen or realign the cursor or something). When this happens, I can't even break out to the KERMIT-65> prompt. Could it be that Kermit is not fast enuff to handle input from both sides and just decides to <expletive> the whole thing? Any ideas on whats going on, or any suggestions on how to fix it? Thanx in advance. -- John Bartolotta (Bart) | My boss owns a pizza/beer shop so ...!pitt!cuphub!bar5834 | I doubt he cares what I say on bar5834@cuphub.cup.edu | a computer network. -- Greetings from California, PA: The town with 1 university, 3 drug stores, and 1 traffic light.

This happens to me a lot with both 3.85 and 3.86. Just hit CTRL-Q (or your friendly neighborhood XON key) and things will work again. As to why this happens... beats me! -- ____ ____ ____ __o o__ Cliff Tuel || || || ||__ ||__ \( v )/ ctuel@polyslo.CalPoly.EDU ||___ ||___ || || || /___\ {ucbvax,voder,pyramid}!polyslo!ctuel ^ ^

It sounds like your aren't using the SSC driver. Unless Interrupts are enabled (SW2-6 on an Apple brand Super Serial Card), Kermit will lose characters when the screen scrolls. Unenhanced //e's also will drop an occassional character when the screen scrolls due to a ROM glitch corrected in the enhanced //e ROM. /s Murph <Sewall%UConnVM.BITNET@CUNYVM.CUNY.Edu> [Internet] or ...{psuvax1 or mcvax}!uconnvm.bitnet!sewall [UUCP] + Standard disclaimer applies ("The opinions expressed are my own" etc.)
